Das Jahr soll an die Bedeutung von Licht als elementare Lebensvoraussetzung f\u00fcr Menschen, Tiere und Pflanzen und daher\u00a0auch als zentraler Bestandteil von Wissenschaft und Kultur erinnern. Wissenschaftliche Erkenntnisse \u00fcber Licht erlauben ein besseres Verst\u00e4ndnis des Kosmos, f\u00fchren zu besseren Behandlungsm\u00f6glichkeiten in der Medizin und zu neuen Kommunikationsmitteln.
